SkinPen Microneedling

SkinPen Microneedling (or collagen induction therapy) is the use of very small needles to repeatedly penetrate the layers of the skin in order to induce a wound healing response.

This initiates the release of natural growth factors to increase collagen and elastin production, to visibly reduce signs of ageing and scarring and to improve skin tone.

What are the benefits of SkinPen Microneedling?

After the age of 25, a person produces about 1% less collagen in the skin each year. As a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile with age, resulting in signs of aging and loss of elasticity to the skin.

  • Improves signs of ageing
  • Improves scars such as post-acne scarring or stretch marks
  • Produces smoother, firmer, more toned skin
  • Improves pigmentation
  • Improves the appearance of enlarged pores

Studies show up to 400% more collagen and improved epidermal/dermal thickness 6 months post-procedure

Why choose SkinPen Microneedling over other devices?

For wrinkles and lines and general skin rejuvenation, a course of 3 to 6 treatments are recommended at intervals of 4 – 6 weeks. A visible response will usually be seen 4 – 6 weeks after the first or second treatment.

Post-treatment the skin will be reddened, possibly a little “puffy” and you may be aware of a little tenderness.

You will also experience skin tightness and the skin may also “flake” in the first few days. Do not pick any flaking skin which should be left to peel naturally.

  • Do use the remaining HG lift that your practitioner has given you and the day after the treatment use the rescue product to calm and soothe
  • Do keep out of the sun on the day of treatments and for the following 24 hours
  • Do use sunscreen factor 50 and keep out of direct sunlight to maximise long term results
  • Do use a clean pillowcase and towel
  • Don’t touch the skin unnecessarily immediately post-treatment. This will be important to avoid any post-treatment infection
  • Don’t apply make up for 24 hours post-treatment

  • Don’t have any other clinical treatments for 1- 4 weeks post-treatment.
  • Speak to your practitioner for exact advice on how best to combine other treatments you may be having or want to start having
  • Don’t shave or use any after-shave type products over the area that has been treated for 12-24 hours post-treatment
  • Don’t allow pets to lick the area that has been treated – this is likely to lead to a major infection
