Pre-treatment Advice

  • Stop topical retinoids (retinol) at least 48 hours before treatment
  • Do not carry our facial waxing in the 1 weeks prior to your HydraFacial
  • Do not have any other invasive treatments including injectables in the two weeks before your appointment.

Contra-indications

The following may prevent or restrict the treatment. We will conduct a full consultation at your first appointment but please contact us prior to your appointment if any of the following apply to you:

  • For low strength retinol, cease use 2 days before and after HydraFacial. Stop prescription strength Retin A (e.g. Tretinoin) 2 weeks before.
  • If you have used Roaccutane, Accutane, Isotretinoin within the last six months
  • Facial laser – wait two weeks
  • Botox, fillers – wait two weeks (can have HydraFacial before)
  • Antibiotics – 10 days clear
  • Topical steroids (wait one week)
  • Oral steroids (wait at least one month)
  • If you have active eczema on the treatment site
  • If you have open wounds on the treatment site
  • If you have fresh scars on the treatment site
  • If you have an allergy to shellfish, aspirin or honey
  • If you have any other allergies/intolerances
  • If you have an autoimmune disorder (HIV, Lupus, Hepatitis, etc.)
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • If you are currently undergoing treatment for cancer it will not be possible to treat. If you have the all-clear, it will be possible to treat with GP consent.
  • Lymphatic disorders
  • If you have had cold sores within the last month.
  • If you are prone to cold sores, you can use Zovirax or prescription antiviral medication for a few days before and after your treatment to prevent an outbreak. Our in-house doctor can prescribe an antiviral medication for you – please enquire for details
  • If you have had cosmetic injections within the last 2 weeks
  • If you have had recent laser procedures or superficial skin peels in the treatment area in the last 2 weeks
  • If you have had recent deep chemical peels in the treatment area

This section of medical conditions can be treated with lower vacuum settings and without the LED light

  • If you are taking light sensitive medication (No LED light)
  • If you have epilepsy (No LED light)
  • If you are taking blood thinners (lower vacuum)
  • If you have recently had cortisone or steroid injections (lower vacuum)
  • If you have diabetes. You can be treated, providing your blood sugar is under control, and your skin integrity is not compromised. You may experience more redness than normal. Lower vacuum as skin is prone to bruising

 

Additional advice for HydraTite

Drink water prior to your treatment as hydrated skin will experience better results In addition to those conditions set out above, the following may contraindicate your treatment:

  • You have had fillers in the past month (we do not recommend going over areas of fillers as the heat can degrade filler more quickly)
  • Metal plates or pins in the area
  • Diagnosed Rosacea in the treatment area
  • Pacemakers or other medical implanted devices Inflamed acne
  • Pacemakers or other medical implanted devices
  • You have severe liver, heart or kidney disease
  • You have thyroid disorder, severe Asthma or High blood pressure (uncontrolled) – a GP note will be required

Aftercare advice

Now that you have enjoyed a HydraFacial treatment, here are a few tips for aftercare

  • Avoid make up for 12-24 hours
  • Avoid any topical AHAs or BHAs for 24 hours
  • Avoid using retinol or any other Retin A products for 48 hours after the treatment
  • Avoid hot environments and heat (saunas, sunbeds, intense workouts, hot yoga) for the next 48 hours
  • Avoid swimming pools for the next 48 hours
  • Avoid having any aggressive treatments on the HydraFacial treatment area for 2 weeks
  • Application of SPF 30 (minimum) is essential (but remember, this is ALWAYS essential). We can recommend a sunscreen suitable for your skin type
  • To enhance your results, we recommend starting a skin care regime compromising a Vitamin C, Sunscreen and Retinol. Your practitioner can recommend products that will be most suitable for you
  • Return for your next HydraFacial Skin Health for Life within 1 month or book your more frequent treatment for specific protocols (Anti-Aging, Britenol, Gly-Sal Acne Protocol)

Be aware that, in rare occasions, after the HydraFacial your skin may experience the following:

  • Heat sensation
  • Itching
  • Flaking
  • Lumps and bumps
  • Redness
  • Swelling

Although these are rare, they can still happen, however, all of them are manageable and NOT permanent. If you experience any of these please contact your practitioner at the clinic.
