Pre-treatment Advice

  • Stop topical retinoids (retinol) at least 48 hours before treatment
  • Do not carry out facial waxing in the 1 week prior to your treatment
  • Do not have any other invasive treatments including injectables in the two weeks before your appointment.

Contra-indications

The following may prevent or restrict the treatment. We will conduct a full consultation at your first appointment but please contact us prior to your appointment if any of the following apply to you:

  • If you have used Roaccutane, Accutane, Isotretinoin within the last 6 months
  • Low Strength retinol in the last 48 hours or prescription-strength (e.g. Tretinoin) in the past 2 weeks
  • If you have any electrical implants (pacemaker)
  • If you have any metal plates, braces or pins in the area
  • If you have an autoimmune disorder (HIV, Lupus, Hepatitis, etc.)
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • If you have cancer or a history of cancer
  • If you have had cold sores within the last month. If you are prone to cold sores, you can use Zovirax or prescription anti-viral medication for a few days before and after your treatment to prevent an outbreak. Our in-house doctor can prescribe an antiviral medication for you – please enquire for details
  • If you have had recent laser procedures in the treatment area in the last 2 weeks
  • If you have had recent deep chemical peels in the treatment area
  • If you have had facial waxing in the last 1 week
  • If you have active eczema on the treatment site
  • If you have open wounds on the treatment site
  • If you have fresh scars on the treatment site
  • If you have sunburn or any other burns on the treatment site
  • If you have epilepsy
  • If you have a serious heart condition
  • If you suffer from high blood pressure, a GP note will be required
  • If you suffer from chronic migraines
  • If you suffer from nerve sensitivity due to diseases such as diabetes, (a sensitivity test can be performed)
  • If you suffer from rosa

Aftercare advice

Now that you have enjoyed your high frequency facial here are a few tips for aftercare:
  • Avoid hot baths/showers and other heat treatments after a facial (sauna, steam room swimming pool)
  • Avoid touching your face
  • Keep your phone clean (this will avoid bacteria being transferred onto your face)
  • Change your pillowcase regularly
  • Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water post facial
  • Avoid the gym or vigorous exercise for 24 hours after having a facial
  • Return for repeat procedures in accordance with your therapist’s advice
  • Speak to your practitioner regarding further treatments including courses of high frequency, they will also be able to recommend products that will be most suitable for you
