Medik8 Skin Peel

Pre-Peel Consultation

A pre-peel consultation must take place approximately 2 weeks before performing the first peel procedure.

At the consultation your skin will be analysed and photos taken, medical history taken, and the appropriate peel discussed with you. A patch test will also be performed by applying a small amount of peel to your inner arm.

Your skin needs to be prepped for 2 weeks prior to your peel with Vitamin C and Retinol.

This will be provided at your skin consultation appointment. For Fitzpatrick skin type 4 (olive to moderate brown natural skin tone e.g. Asian) to 6 (black natural skin tone e.g. Nigerian) skin prep to be a minimum of 4 weeks and will include a pigment suppressant (White Balance Brightening Serum).

In the 24 hours post peel

  • Apply no other products to your face other than what is provided to you. A sachet of Crystal Retinol 3 will be supplied to use on the evening of your peel.
  • Avoid exercise
  • Do not wear make up

In the 3 days post peel

  • Use the Post Peeling Kit only for 3 days following your peel (this includes an SPF to be used daily)
  • Treat the skin gently – avoid using washcloths and facial sponges
  • Allow the skin to peel naturally, do not pick or scratch the treated area
  • Avoid heat treatments, saunas, steam rooms, hairdryers, hot baths and showers and chlorinated water for 48 hours
  • Avoid heavy make-up for 48 hours (mineral make-up can be worn if the application brush is sanitised)
  • Do not use wash off AHA or BHA cleansers such as Clarifying Foam or Surface Radiance Cleanse

Ongoing care of your skin

  • After 3 days you can start to integrate other products into your regime. However, do not use leave-on AHA, BHA or physical exfoliants in the week following your peel. An ongoing regime following the CSA philosophy (Vitamin C, Sunscreen, Vitamin A) will promote advanced healing and intensify results.
  • Apply an SPF daily. A minimum of SPF 30 physical sunscreen is recommended (avoid too much direct sunlight even with the use of SPF)
  • Avoid laser skin treatments and Botox/Fillers for 1 month following your peel
  • Avoiding facial waxing for at least 1 week following your peel
  • Avoid excessive sun exposure (such as a hot holiday) for 2 weeks post-peel
  • Book your next peel for 2 – 4 weeks’ time. Your practitioner will advise on the best interval for you. Want to transform your skin over 12 weeks? – ask us about our 12 weeks to WOW programme.
