Lynton’s medical-grade IPL offers an effective treatment for all types of vascular lesions, from facial thread veins, and Campbell de Morgan spots to rosacea.
Red veins are caused by overexposure to the sun, drastic changes in weather, changes in pressure, excessive alcohol consumption, environmental irritants, rosacea, hormonal changes, or simply genetics.
Lynton IPL selectively heats (photo thermolysis) and destroys the abnormal vessels that cause redness, allowing thicker-walled microvessels to be laid down.
Following the treatment, the damaged vessels are absorbed by the body and little or no trace of the lesion remains.
The number of treatments will vary depending upon the indication. A single treatment may be all that is needed for a small lesion such as a spider naevus or a small thread vein, whereas conditions such as Port Wine Stains and Rosacea may require up to 6 sessions (with maintenance treatments every 6 to 12 months for Rosacea clients.
The vascular lesion may entirely vanish at the time of the first treatment. This occurs when the vein immediately collapses and this is often the most common outcome.
Alternatively, the vessel may darken (coagulation) immediately following treatment due to coagulation. This is then absorbed by the body over the following week and the thread vein should lighten.
After treatment, the area may feel warm for a few hours. Rarely, some delicate skin areas such as the cheeks or décolleté can be red and slightly swollen for up to 48 hours.
Though very rare, there is a chance a small blister may form and there could be temporary lightening or darkening of the skin.
Rosacea is a common skin condition that most often appears between the ages of 30 and 60 and is usually visible on the cheeks, forehead, chin and nose.
People with rosacea often find they suffer from facial thread veins as the skin is red and flushed.
Red veins and red flushing can be a cause of real concern and distress. Unfortunately, rosacea is a chronic condition however, with our medical-grade Lynton IPL treatment we can create a personalised treatment plan to help to get your rosacea under control.
Facial thread veins, red veins, spider veins or telangiectasia are tiny blood vessels (capillaries) that run close to the skin’s surface.
They look like thin red or occasionally purple or blue threads that often occur around the nose, across the cheeks and chin.
The resulting red, web-shaped appearance gives them their common name, spider veins. Vascular lesions emerge when the blood vessels become enlarged which causes the veins to appear broken.
