IPL for Acne & Breakouts

Why Treat Acne with IPL?

We offer safe and effective acne treatments for the face and body.
If you’re hoping to reduce redness, combat spots, lessen inflammation and the frequency of your breakouts, acne-prone skin can be effectively treated with Lynton Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) alone or in combination with other clinical treatments.

By directly addressing the p. acnes bacteria with medical-grade IPL you will experience clearer skin and an improvement in the tone, texture, and appearance of your skin.

What is acne?

Acne is a very common skin condition that affects 95% of teenagers and adults to some extent over the course of their lifetime.

Acne is commonly triggered by hormonal changes. In response, the sebaceous gland (found in the hair follicle) produces too much oil, or ‘sebum’, which captures dead skin, debris and, in turn, clogs up the follicles. Bacteria builds up in the sebaceous (oil-producing) gland which travels up the hair follicle and out to the skin’s surface, this results in blackheads, whiteheads, red or pus-filled spots, and inflamed skin.

Acne is easily recognised by the appearance of the spots on the face, neck, chest, or back.

How does IPL for acne work?

The light emitted from the Intense Pulsed Light system directly targets overactive sebaceous glands, greatly reducing the total number and severity of active lesions and lessening the inflammation and occurrence of breakouts.

The light stimulates the production of new collagen to improve skin texture and can also reduce the appearance of red or brown areas of skin that are often associated with acne breakouts.

Typically, a course of 3-6 treatments is recommended, with top-ups as and when necessary. Treatments should be carried out every 2 to 3 weeks.

IPL for acne will promote clearer skin and will improve the tone, texture and appearance of the skin.

Any improvement to pitted acne scars will be subtle and more invasive procedures such as needling or laser resurfacing will be recommended.

IPL is not a cure for acne, a complete clearance of acne cannot be guaranteed and results may differ from person to person.
v The best results for acne will be achieved in conjunction with an at-home skin care regime.
